Because I made my first mod for it. It's extremely simple and lets you use 'F' to change the fog/render distance without holding the F3 key like you could before 1.8.

nope. I was all excited for 1.8 but I got bored again after 20 minutes.

Though if I eventually do get into it again I will absolutely be using that mod.
