I don't have a problem with them having the right to deny someone to move to their country, but blindly saying someone is unhealthy or a burden to the healthcare system just because they are overweight is completely ignorant.

Are you shitting me.  We pay billions of dollars every year in health care costs for those come here illegally, and they are worried about the couple fatties who want to move there any pay taxes to cover their health care costs.  The two situations are not remotely comparable.

How are they losing money?  If these people are in good health (no, being fat does not negate this possibility), they are only paying additional taxes into the system to help relieve some of that burden.

Also, I have no idea where you're getting your "billions of dollars every year" number from, so I'm not going to address it.

California and Texas alone spend over a billion dollars each on health care services for undocumented immigrants.

How is the US losing money, then? NZ is working off the idea that the more overweight someone is, the more likely they are to have significant health problems down the road at a lower age than the average NZer. I don't have the numbers for this, though, so I can't really support or deny that idea with quantitative data.

and yes, most of the causes are literally 'you ate to much' but several deal with things like genetics and other factors that put you into a high risk category.

as for banning fatties from coming to your island paradise... idk. im torn personally. i see the good and the bad that goes along with it. From where i stand i can see no reason not to ban unhealthy people... but if your going to ban one unhealthy preventable lifestyle choice, you should probably ban them all. this would include smoking, drinking, driving, biking, clifdiving, fishing, hunting...pretty much anything that isnt sitting in a chair all day. but you also cant just sit in a chair all day because then you will get fat, and sitting puts you at a high risk of hemorrhoids, obesity, and blood clots just to name a few things.
