Title: My best friend of 8 years just died
Post by: ಠ_ಠ King Death II ಠ_ಠ on August 19, 2010, 08:41:41 pm
So yesterday we discovered that my dog had lymphoma so this morning we went to the oncologist and they told us he was already in stage 5. We had to put him down today because his lungs were filling up with fluid and he would have choked to death in a few more hours....

Im gonna miss you pal :(

I came in here wanting to insult you and maybe take a poke or two at you while you're this vulnerable.
I leave apologetic and offer my condolences.

24 hours man, thats all it takes for lymphoma. Get your dog checked if you have one, you'll be glad if you catch it early. Usually if its in stage 1, the chemo will extend their life another year at the max but that last year is so worth it.

My wife's cousin found out her dog had lymphoma earlier this year.  I guess they caught it early because they recently declared her cancer free.

Thats just remission, remission lasts like 7-10 months and the rest of the months is the slow spiral to the inevitable. They can do a second remission but that is harder to do and lasts half the time of the first. Its not curable so remission is all they can do.

It's a pretty old dog anyway, so any time is just a bonus.

A man should never have to put his dog down,  I'd feel like crap if I ever had to put my German shepherd

Well its either that or endless suffering for the poor guy. Even if it a natural death, its better to put them down when their their body dosent work anymore.

That came out wrong, I meant that it's a sad day when you got to put your best friend down.
