Lack of Mars Volta, Radiohead, R.E.M FTL.
are you talking bout the same R.E.M. w/ da song Its the End of the World? lol annoyingly awesome song we should have Moth and Delta sing it if we hit our mark lol
-
Ohhh - add 'Planet X - Quantum' or Moonbabies or Live From Oz.
Modern Rock sux... everyone has that same voice and tries to scream to much and also everyone is starting to get that emo look which is well... gay.
Dunno what your definition of rock is. Most rock does suck today. A few good bands but oh well. Metal is owns as hard as ever, especially with the reuinior tour of carcass. What I call rock is not those emo screamo bands. They are emo or hardcore or something. The Used is horrible and rivals even bands like greenday and simple plan for how much I hate them and their music and everything they stand for.
Also, I hate scream vocals for the most part (there a few exceptions, mostly in punk bands like Refused) but I would get way too bored if I listened to stuff without growls or at least semi harsh vocals.
Oh you need to put some Opeth albums on there. Morningrise, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Damnation and maybe Ghost Reveries are all must hear
-
R.E.M. =
-
60's 70's 80's and early 90's was the best years for Rock (that is true Rock), Metal, and Hair-Metal
there may be a few bands today that call themselves "Rock" but the prime years are gone for now
maybe someday a band will come along and bring back Pure honest to God Rock!
-

Both Radiohead and The Mars Volta are on there.
R.E.M. isn't good enough.
-

I hold it as a default that everyone just ought to listen to Opeth period. I wan't about to put most of their albums on there, but I couldn't pick just one.

Rock has existed
40, 50, 60 70, 80, 90, 00
You listed the best years as
60, 70, 80, 90
That leaves
40, 50, 00
as the worst
I just wanted to point out that you listed most of the decades that rock has even existed as the best.
-
Best decade imo is 80s.
-
Best decade imo is 80s.
Are you fucking kidding me? <--- I actually exclaimed this upon reading that statement.
I would say that the 80's is the worst decade.
-
The decade had it all. Landmark punk, post-punk, alternative, shoegaze, electronic, new wave, and much more albums were released. I'm not talking about the hair metal here <_<
And just to humor myself, I'll list some o the stuff I'm talkin bout
for punk, Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime (undisputedly one of the best punk albums ever), Delta 5, Dead Kennedys
tons of post punk, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd., The Fall, Echo & the Bunnymen, Mission of Burma, Joy Division
Shoegaze took form in the 80s, stuff like Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain
Tons of great alternative, Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Smiths, Sonic Youth, the Replacements, Smashing Pumpkins, Husker Du, I could go on forever!
New Wave was huge, with Talking Heads, Devo, and XTC being personal faves
And then you have, of course, the beginnings of Nick Cave, in his wilder years with The Birthday Party and first records with the Bad Seeds, all very very good.
Yeah, I love the 80s >_>
-

For me, most of those types of music just aren't that entertaining so it doesn't matter if it's groundbreaking or not.

I've listened to these. Hail to the Thief is definitely the worst of them by far, and I couldn't possibly decide a favorite. It's between Thriller, Focus, and Revolver.
