It has begun.

Since you can change your resources, trade circles can be easily engineered, so we have a Trade Circle section now. Consult that forum before you use your first available resource change.

Well, TE is off for 1-2 weeks, so of course, the Order of the Snowflake won't be up and running until it comes back.

Do you change your signature every 5 minutes?
No. This:
It does it automatically. It changes every time you refresh.

I have a special randomiser script in the place where I host my sig. At present, there are 17 signatures in the cycle.

Order of Snowflake sounds up my alley. No time, though.
That's a pity. Maybe some other round.

RIA is not much for TE.  We had a few of us playing several rounds back, but never got more than 10, and most went inactive quickly.  Even with the SF:TE alliance, the participation from the RIA was minimal.
Fair enough, but I thought it was worth a try anyway.
If we even get 1 or 2 people, it'll have been worth the few seconds it took to post this here :P

If any of you are interested in playing Tournament Edition next round (starts on Feb 16th), I have an alliance that I'm launching over there, the Order of the Snowflake. Our boards are set up already on the SOS Brigade's hosting, so if you want to join us, register an account there and make an application in the forum titled Snowflake Gate (using the application form stickied inside).

Our alliance is in possession of a guide written by a former TE champion which has resulted in my nation getting as high as 15th in the game by the end of the round and the more nations follow it, the more likely it is for those nations to place highly. This guide would be made available to members of the Order of the Snowflake.

So if you're interested in playing TE next round, keep us in mind!

Anime / Anyone kno any decent anime movies!?
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:13:25 am »
Kara no Kyoukai is awesome.
Most of Miyazaki's stuff is recommended too, as well as Shinkai's stuff (5cm/s, Place Promised in our Early Days and Voices of a Distant Star) and TokiKake.

Grave of the Fireflies is utterly amazing, but the dub is hopeless, so stick with subs.
Keep a box of tissues handy while watching it.

This. If you don't like anime, why post in the anime section?

This. You don't have to actually post here at all.

If you have nothing constructive to say, you can piss off.

Hmm... That first one being from the people who made Baccano! intrigues me, I might just look into that one. I don't know what the hell the Fate/Stay Night TV Reproduction is all about but I'd certainly like to find out, anyone know?

Everything else looks like Grade A oxshit.

OMG UBW movie? brb cumming
The one from the people who made Baccano! has the most awesome voice cast I have seen in a long time, so I'll give it a look based on that alone. Check out the voice cast on MyAnimeList.

The Fate/Stay Night TV Reproduction is basically an OVA series (total running time of 120 minutes) that will condense the content of the TV series (with updated animation and new theme songs), presumably as a warmup for the Unlimited Blade Works movie coming up. More information is on the MAL listing.

I'm picking up Durarara! and Ookamikakushi. The latter is an anime adaptation of a visual novel which was a collaboration between 07th Expansion (the creators of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni) and Peach-Pit (the creators of DearS and Rozen Maiden).
The OP for the Visual Novel (it's on Youtube) gives off a very Higurashi-esque vibe and the anime is being produced by AIC (who also produced titles such as the Ah My Goddess movies, Bubblegum Crisis, Now and Then Here and There, Nyan Koi, Sasameki Koto and Seto no Hanayome), not Studio DEEN (who produced the previous 07th Expansion adaptations), so that should do away with the very unnatural facial expressions that were in Higurashi and especially Umineko.

Knightmare of Nunnally is actually halfway-decent
I don't even know you anymore.
Oh you. It's better than the Bleach manga.
It's also better than K-ON in general.

Don't read Bleach please, i'm a hypocrite since i read it but i seriously thinks its plain crap.
I am aware of the crappy nature of the Bleach manga, I only read the first volume because I got it for free.

Knightmare of Nunnally and Suzuka of the Counter Attack ???  So theres actually people reading them...
While I can't speak for Suzaku of the Counterattack, Knightmare of Nunnally is actually halfway-decent.

i like dubs, not knowing what the dude is saying without having to divert my attention from the action to read the subs is annoying!
This would be fine if the English-language voices weren't completely and utterly ridiculous and annoying most of the time.

That, and you have ADR Directors like Kristi Reed (known as the 'Butcher of Dubs') who insist on having their cast brutally fuck up the pronunciations of just about every Japanese word that can't be translated (because it's a name, for example).

I cant stand 'em either.Mosly for me because its hard to watch both the subs and whats acually going on.
It's just a matter of practice.
Voice acting is almost universally better in Japanese (a couple of notable exceptions here: arguably FMA, definitely Fruits Basket).

There is also the problem of not all anime (not even a sizable chunk of it) having been dubbed in English.
There are fansubbed versions of pretty much everything you can think of (from the last 20 years anyway) though.

Lol, Yu-gi-oh!

Also, reading Fullmetal Alchemist and Knightmare of Nunnally, finished Rozen Maiden (anticlimax much?) and dropped Haruhi manga (awful, awful mangaka = blasphemy).
Oh, and I've read the first volume of the Bleach manga (got it as a bonus with something else I bought from Madman).

Yeah, I don't read much manga.

1, 5, 7 and 10 apply to me. I'd prefer it if 4 applied to me too, but I couldn't honestly say that.

Actually, there is a rule that states that if you can imagine it, it exists on the internet. So yes, animal hentai does in fact exist.
Actually, it's: There is porn of it, no exceptions.

Anime / anime is gay as fuck

Amusing that you'd post a critique of anime consisting only of a title that presumes that fuck is gay and a picture of something that isn't even anime.

Oh my, I think we have a winner here.

so as the description sais, i have just finished a good one, which is Death Note (not happy with ending btw) and i would like to hear some suggestions for my new one, i liked beck i liked samurai champloo and trigun and many others, so i like just about anything, scary funny sexy makes no difference as long as its great
Death Note was great for 25 episodes, then below average for the last 12. Near pissed me off with his god-modding.

I suggest your go watch Higurashi no naku ni koro if you haven't seen that series. There is a season two for it as well as a season 3 OVA. If you have seen it, then check out Canaan.
This I can second, except maybe the Canaan thing. I have not seen Canaan.
Also, the Season 3 OVA has five OVAs, of which the first and last are great, but the middle three are not so great.

Listen to the sexy, crazy, insane girl!
This.

I would also recommend Code Geass, but seeing that you might have already seen this widely known anime, Lucky Star. In my opinion, its one of the most underrated and unappreciated animes, at least it is where i come from
Lucky Star is awesome, period. So is Geass.

im going to watch Higurashi no naku ni koro, ive already finished episode 3, and im about ready to piss my pants, jese these girls are creepy
Oh god. You're only on episode 3. Your jaw is about to hit the floor (in episode 4).
In fact, I suspect it will at the end of most of the arcs, particularly Tsumihoroboshi-hen (Atonement), the last one of the first series.
