Random lnsanity / First trip to Russia
« on: February 25, 2013, 09:40:52 am »
Ok, in my continuing effort to encourage Llamavore to get a passport and venture out of his state, I have travelled to Moscow for the first time today.

On the 2 hour drive in from Domodedevo airport, past the Kremlin, to the hotel I am staying in, I saw 3 McDonald's and 2 KFC restaurants.  I felt like I was in Indiana, and was going to get mugged by some dude in a John Deere cap.  Some dude who goes by the handle Llamavore.

Interestingly, I learned that the Kremlin is not, in fact, the funny looking orthodox church-like colourful buildidng featured in the original Tetris for Nintendo (you know, ehre all the towers take off when you hit level balillion), but an only slightly more colourful version of the Pentagon, and looks like it might be a tetrahedron.  I'll have to check the shape from Google Earth.

Given that I am a history major, one of whose focus areas was the Cold War, this is shameful.  And I wasn<t even educated in the US...

Not:  (this is St Basil's Cathedral)

Random lnsanity / The case of the missing llamas
« on: January 31, 2013, 07:44:12 am »
3 of my llamas just disappeared.  I am very upset about it.

Incidentally, Leo, gained 3 llamas overnight.

The only other suspect, obviously, is Llamavore.  Has he suddenly gained weight?

Anyone with any evidence that leads to the recovery of these llamas will be richly rewarded.

Ok I am doing this way to regularly, but I hope it will serve as an inspiration to you young'uns.

My brother is crossing the pond again, and we are making our 6th 4 day trip to Amsterdam.  Making a bee-line for the Bulldog Café (well, one of them), and going to smoke ourselves silly.  Silly I tell you.

in the evenings, we will head back to the hotel and soak in some sci-fi and comedies.  Bringing a friend's PS3 for the first time too.

So, what film, movie, series, game recommendations out there for someone in a a fully baked condition.  And I am struggling to find good shit we have not already seen/ played over the last 20 years.  Abnormal recommendations welcome.

""The Darwinium of Slugs is a breeding colony for a particularly voracious race of invertebrates.  On weekends, citizens enjoy racing each other, licking their way fiercely across the moist, grateful lawn.  Some younger segments of the population like to "go shell-less", a behavior that is shocking to the forgetful colony founders, who prefer to complain about the digestive problems related to their all-marijuana diet.  Sharing an almost universal distrust of big government, Slugkind is innately conservative and staunchly pro-ooze.  Racial tensions with the neighboring snails have abated over the years, and have largely devolved to keel envy.  In an effort to bring the two races closer together, liberal elements on both sides have tried to re-brand their communities under a friendlier hybrid name, "Snugs", and were promptly taken out behind the rotting log and shot.  Then they were buried separately.  Although Slugkind is almost exclusively English-speaking, they are often taken for French on account of the fact that slugs are, basically, big tongues.  This irritates them to no end, as it would any non-Francophone.  For generations, the scientific community has pondered about the possibility of life in other gardens, developing the Slake equation to prove its mathematical certainty.  Unfortunately the resultant runs counter to the available scientific evidence, which conclusively proves that life is unique to this particular garden.""

Please tell me what you think of the avatar as well.

Random lnsanity / Words you don't hear too often...

"You're a damned fool."

Someone said this to me, in a serious context, in a business meeting.  I have been called an idiot, asshole, moron...etc many times, and I am not just referring to these boards.

But I have a problem with this one, because, for all it's Jimmy Stewart-esque charm, I had no comeback.  The best I could muster was, "Yessir I am."

Can anyone help me with a better comeback here?  I don't mind delivering a day later, or better yet ambushing the guy into saying it to me again...

How do you feel today?

Seriously, we love guns.  Peacemakers especially.  Blow a man's head off from clear across the room.  Llamavore will be demonstrating this shortly on fAILureStrategist...  Come for the show, stay for the popcorn.

Random lnsanity / US seccessionist movement

What a bunch of sore losers.  I can't say I would have voted for Obama either (though I am pretty sure I would not vote Mr. Self Contradiction either), but as I am not American, I have the liberty of looking on this from a distance.

If I had a bunch or whining maggots for co-citizens like the ones who are petitioning the WH to seccede because they lost their election, there would be no end to the fun I would make of them.  I would call them traitors, sore losers, conspirators, and ninnies.  That's right - ninnies.

How do Americans feel about this bullshit?

Random lnsanity / Scaremongering series: War is coming
« on: November 05, 2012, 04:38:56 am »
We seem to have 2 wars a year at about the same times - and in a little over a month, I expect we will be at war.  There is no way to avoid it.

Lucas' writers are working on its storyline as we speak.

Romney's speechwriters are preparing some excellent scaremongering material in a misguided thought that they may be able to use it in a month or so.

A little girl gave me a rainbow and asked if I had maxed out my nukes, and I said yes.  Then she asked me if my warchest was ready.  I answered no, but that I was doing everything I can.  So she handed me her My Little Pony, and said it would protect me when the bad guys came in 5 weeks...

I have 20 nukes for the first time ever.

I am very excited about this level of preparedness, even if my war chest is not in place yet - working on it was we speak.

The site of the 2002 Bali bombing that killed 202 people is a parking lot with signs urging people not to urinate. Surivors and relatives want a Bali Peace Park, a place of reflection instead.

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/10/11/world/asia/bali-bombings-ten-years-on/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

I don't mean to sound callous, but I do some of my best reflection when I urinate on 'do not urinate' signs.

“Here’s my reason for joy: the cross,” Dolan said, who went on to argue that the reason for happiness is the fact that even after Jesus was crucified, he rose three days later.

“ ‘He who laughs last, laughs best…’ and we believers have never stopped smiling since that Resurrection of Jesus from the dead,” Dolan said. “So, Good Friday did not have the last word…Easter did! That’s why I can laugh.”

Ok, I am writing this from the Business Class section of an A380 about to depart from Frankfurt to Johannesburg.  I have done this once before, and Air France's BC was much better than this Lufthansa flight...

I hope the SA po-lice don't gas-bomb my ass when I get there...

Random lnsanity / My new love
« on: August 23, 2012, 06:59:46 am »
Ok, so after a few early abortive starts, I have fallen in love with cigars.

My brother brought some beautiful Cuban Montecristos to our fishing trip (25 big ones), which we smoked in between joints and the mother of all bongs.  A colleague of his had just returned from Cuba and picked the cigars up at the factory only 3 days earlier.  We made a fire with 37 logs, stacked precipitously on one another, and avoided serious injury, this year.

This was supplemented by 6 750ml bottles of Westmalle Tripel (yes, Tripel, not triple), a 9.5% alc Belgian triple-fermented beer made by some sinful monks.

Needless to say we didn't need any bugspray, and didn't catch a whole lot of fish.

Now I want to try a Blunt.  How do you make one - legend is that you need the 3rd leaf of a particular kind of cigar or something or other.  Any ideas?

Random lnsanity / 100 llamas and runnin'...
« on: July 23, 2012, 05:21:24 am »
That's right, 100 fucking llamas RIGHT HERE.  And damn, they are fine.  Lots of fucking fine lamas, bitches, and all mine.

Ok, I am deflating now.  Not quite the thrill I hoped it would be.  Now, it is all past tense - I had 100 llamas, but the moment is past and I no longer have them.

In Spock's legendary words, sometimes having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting...
