Title: iFail
Post by: Jenne on November 01, 2012, 11:05:47 pm
So apparently it's not a good idea to leave your phone on the top of your car.  Surprisingly the phone still works at least.

Nice pink phone cover.
It's the old lady's phone.  And no Leo, she does not drive a VW Bug.  Quite the opposite really.

The touch screen still works? I am surprised.
If you don't mind the glass shards in your thumb it works.

So she's overcompensating for something? And by she, I mean you, cause as a man on the internet, it is impossible for you to have a significant other that is not your hand.

So the issue now is what do with it.  I don't have insurance on it, so I can't get it fixed/replaced.  But can I just buy out the contract and then upgrade starting a new contract?  Or do I just have to pay full price for a new phone to upgrade?  I am not eligible for an upgrade on that phone until August.

Depends on how much disposable cash you have on hand and how much your phone means to you.  Me, I'm a cheap bastard and would wait it out but I would splurge on a new case :D

Well if its still serving its purpose ( I highly doubt it) then you should wait it out

I thought Gorilla scratch resistant glass was invincible lol. No seriously, no matter what I do, there's like no scratches on my lumia or wildfire s

Ok, fine.  You got me.  I just like get my hands on some pink once in a while, even if I have to pay for it.

If it was my phone, I'd probably deal with it.  But it's the wife's, well, you know how that will go.  I may at least be able to get away with calling it a Christmas present.

No scratches maybe, but try dropping it from a car at 50 mph and see what happens.

Fuck you apple douchebags...

Just called the apple store.  They want $200 plus other fees to repair the phone.

Seems like my best option is to find a phone on ebay and just swap it on the account.  Then at least I am only paying for the new phone.

You can pay people to fix the screens on phones

I used to work for a company who repaired phones for the insurance companies.  If i could find the glass i could probably do it myself.

Found someone who said they could replace the glass for $75.  Little sketchy since i found them on craigslist.  Said they are located at the mall, but cant find reference to their store anywhere.  Guess I'll find out.

Create value out of this.

Frame the phone in a nice red frame, with a background picture of Steve Jobs.  Title it "Broken Dreams", and sell it on ebay, with limited edition numbering, and a drawn out write up on the artist passion for the jungle and his close friendship with a troop of bonobo monkeys.

Put a 1000$ reserve on it, and wait.  There are hundreds of millions of people on that site.  I bet someone will buy it.
