Also, I'm sure everyone on that show does it for some exposure; free advertising since people will be like, "That place sucked but now maybe it's good so I should check it out," unless you fuck up even worse and now even fewer people will consider going there.

I'd probably go just to walk out on the bill, but tip the waitress accordingly. Oh, that fucker is banned from like Germany and France or something (France is definite, and it was either Germany or Italy or something. Can't remember) for his drug dealing days.
