Randy Quaid is no longer a fugitive

he looks like the underground lab scientist in that article.
as for the trailer, maybe it's just the perspective, but the ship looks like it'd have its own gravity and mess up the tides. if they shoot it down it would basically become a new continent. the landing gear are about the size of the ships that were crashing the first time.
what I really want to know though is if goldblum got the girl from last movie.
-
to be fair, the original movie ships were also big enough to not only effect the tides of the planet, but the density required to make such a ship possible and then have them crashing into earth would be like the impact of 30 dinosaur extinction causing meteors worldwide
-
would they cause local earthquakes and tidal waves, yes I think so. but to create an extinction event requires a certain speed. if they're big enough the drag would slow them down I think
-
the reason massive meteorites are deadly is because they don't slow themselves down to land or to orbit or to fly. they are moving completely unhindered through space until they get to the atmosphere. space bullets. that's where the energy comes from.
-
idk maybe there is some superlight alien structural materials, or antigravity field involved in making those ships feasible. it would definitely have implications on what it does when you break it
-
it's like having a pan dropped on you vs. a bullet shot at you... pan has more mass but much less speed
-
cast iron pans are pretty heavy
-
yes but they dont do as much damage as a gunshot
-
yeah thats true

Here's a rocket scientists reaction to ID4

Can someone explain their target selections? the Aliens were fucking stupid if they thought Vladivlastok was a higher priority than basically any other city in Asia, population wise.
-
Uh, it's like in chess: First, you strategically position your pieces and when the timing is right you… strike.

F=mv^2
Force equals mass times velocity squared. so for every 10x the mass you get 10x more force. for every 10x the velocity you get 100x more force.

also we should have an RIA movie night where we all get together and watch the first independence day. im sure we could set up a stream... it cant be that hard.
