Being stupid and renting to the wrong person...
Basically, long story short.
long/full story? well...for the most part it goes something like this...
I was looking to rent out a room, so I put out an ad. Out of the various people who responded, one was this one mom. She was recently remarried and her eldest son is not getting along with her new husband, at all...She tells me her situation and after all the other people turn out to be dead ends, me and her work out some details.
Wind up agreeing to rent out the room to her soon to be 18 year old son, and she will pay the rent...
So, basically a guaranteed rent, and for the first few weeks he would only be there for the weekends. I met the kid, everything seemed ok, so I went ahead and agreed. We had no lease or downpayment/deposit or anything like that, so no paperwork to go. I figured hey, this might not be too bad after all!
Well, I was wrong, it was bad after all. Turns out they had a social worker on his case for something else. The whole going through me thing for a room thing? Yeah, huge no no in the eyes of the social worker. So because its my room for rent, even though there is no lease or anything, and even though he was only here maybe 4 or 5 days max...Throw a few wrenches into the whole soup and let it simmer for a few weeks, and you get where I am now.
I contacted her to see whats going on, and from what I can gather I'm one of 3 people being called. 2 of which are co-workers of hers, and then me...so yeah. bleh...
