This is a great idea, although, a little harsh. With the upcoming healthcare change in America, the goverment should implament a similar plan. Just changing it a little, have either a tax break for healthy people or tax the unhealthy more, I'm mainly talking about the overweight people but this could also include smokers or any health problem that the everyday person has control over. This is not to say "tax the disabled." No, just what people can control and stop, so the rest of the tax payers dont have to carry their dead weight.

I do agree with the policy though. I don't want people coming to NZ and leeching off the welfare programs because they are not healthy. We have enough NZers to take care of first. I don't think the issue was that she was fat, but that she is at high risk to become unwell, NZ probably wouldn't accept a person with cancer either.

I don't know what the policies are. But, I wish they would ban smokers too. The difference with having a hereditary disease is that the person cannot control it; you can control being fat. That said, if they are at a significant risk, I wouldn't mind banning them too.

However, it goes by a case-by-case basis I am sure. Someone who is highly skilled in a profession in high demand but just do happens to be fat probably won't get turned away. Point is, your application is not decided by one attribute alone. It may be the skills or lack their of combine with an unhealthy lifestyle that decides your eligbility. We don't people draining our already overcapacity welfare system.

This is pretty hilarious. I'm for more open borders personally but I would think it would make more sense to make these people get health insurance as a condition of entry rather than refuse them
