This thread made me look up old game system prices on ebay. I has a sad.
Then I looked at my favorite game as a kid, Secret of Mana, and was both shocked and even sadder. I remember back in about 99-00, I saw that gamestop (or whatever the equivalent was back then) was offering like $30 for it, way more than any game. Would I have sold it for that amount if offered? Hell no, I loved that game too much even though I'd thoroughly beaten it.
Today, it's like $100. Holy shit, almost makes me want to buy a SNES and a collection of old games just so I can prominently feature that one.
Oh, that copy I used to have that I would never sell? I have no clue where it went, I think my parents/bro sold it/gave it away when a much newer system was out and we were ready to upgrade.....
I was the orignal hipster. Just give me a SNES w/ Secret of Mana, a 64 w/ Smash Bros + Mario Kart 64, and an Xbox w/ Madden & NCAA Football + Bball. I'd relive my glory days and never ask for more. Hell, just give me a PS1 + Chrono Cross (Trigger was slightly before my time) and I'll disappear for a week. Fuck this alliance, take me back to the good times.

SNES and N64 games shot up in price by a lot.
N64 Smash can go as high as $100.
Supposedly Gamecube will share that fate, but I don't really buy that.
-
There were some decent games but I'm not sure any matched the quality/originality of NES/SNES/64.
If I were to think Gamecube games I played that might be popular in the future: Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine(?), um....the other Mario games all seemed decent? Everything else was ok but didn't stand out (Animal Crossing, Super Monkey Ball, etc).
And I'm actually surprised Smash isn't higher. Honestly, Nintendo is losing so much easy money not feeding off the nostalgia. I tell my buddy all the time that if they re-released the original Pokemon games on mobile phones, they would make bank off casual gamers like me.
-
given time i would hope to see more and more games make there way to the Virtual Console, especially first party titles.
-
Super Mario Sunshine(?)
Fuck you super mario sunshine. Fuck you. With your flat flying dragon that you have to not fall off of while it's turning. And all the other levels that I couldn't get past. Fuck you all.

Now sonic on the game cube with the chao worlds and all the ones I've raised and snuggled and thrown...

sonic adventure 2 battle. good game.

What is virtual console? Fuck it already.
And I never actually played Sunshine, I just assume it was decent. Sonic was also a solid series though it never quite captured me.

I was thinking about a emulator or something, wiki;

yep. digital versions of old Nintendo games and even new games.

so...an...emulator?

so...an...emulator?
yes, but with the people who own the rights to the games selling them.
-
Fuck 'em.
-
Fuck 'em.
This, they are squeezing money out of games they made in '90.
Glad that i'm not a Nintendo fanboy

Yes, the Virtual console is inside the wii and wiiU and its just a bunch of in house Nintendo emulators for the older consoles. They tend to do a pretty good job on most games, but there are still plenty of issues.
they FINALLY had to start selling GameCube controllers after the melee crowed ruined 90% of them. I just don't get the Nintendo sales team, they are sitting on a gold mine with simple simple stuff like selling the old games again, but in new markets like android and IOS...

Anyone gonna play the division when it comes out?
It'll be awesome if 4 of us could play.

do 4 of us even have ps4's? No cross platform play T_T
