Title: anyone else punching trees to get wood on the ARK?
Post by: ZPO4O on June 07, 2015, 11:20:57 pm
I recently got sucked into 'Ark: survival evolved' the other day, and loving every moment of it.

Just wondering though, anyone else playing the game?

Also...for those who don't know what ark is...

It's on steam right now with early access. Developers are updating and improving the game multiple times a day.

I did see this on steam and gave it some thought. There were a lot of bad reviews due to servers unprepared for the amount of traffic, so I held off. Looks good though. can't go wrong riding a raptor.

nice, it's still 17% off too

Yeah, the servers and optimization sucks, but they get better every day.  At first I had to play on low graphics and I still got fps issues at times. Now I'm running it on medium/high with only a few hick ups here and there.

Servers do fill up quick, I myself have about 5 servers I frequent/play. But they are adding more and more servers every day it seems too. It's getting easier to get into my two main games.

It's fun stuff, specially playing with the Oculus rift.

They got a few things to tweak yet, such as food and body temp. But other then that, I'm having a blast with the game.

I'd like to say it's going well, but honestly I haven't got to play it much the past few months. I bought a wheel and shifter for Euro truck 2, saving money for a hotas setup at the time. Figure once rift gets supported better for it, I'll get into playing that more.

They recently have been working on lots of big mechanics that are not in dog fighting. Cargo hauling, room organisation, insurance, so forth so forth. Not much to check out in arena commander.

that's the nice thing about how retro style indie games are so common now

It looks like it could be a ton of fun, but i games like starforge come to mind that looked fun and then got abandoned once devs got their money...

you can't let one failed game/dev team ruin the genre though.

MWO had serious issues for 3 years because its publisher made their development very inefficient. basically if the feature didn't make money immediately, PGI wasn't getting funding for it. they bought the rights from their publisher (IGP) in late 2014 and the pace of development has really improved.

Remember when Minecraft added the Ender Dragon and an ending to the game

yeah. It ruined my reason for not playing games with people... "sorry cant, I still have to beat minecraft." To be honest though... I dont think they should have had that be 'the end' just another miniboss and realm to inhabit and build in. but what do I know? I'm not a billionaire game designer...
