I decided I'm going to go for "six-pack summer". Who's with me? My goal is to get up to a lean 185 (which will involve a significant increase in caloric intake). I don't think I want to get much heavier than 185. I think if I got up to 205 of lean muscle, I'd probably cut back in the gym for a while. XD
-
The last time I was 185 was 20 years ago. I'd look like an emaciated pigmy if I ever got there again. My goal is to get down to 220 by the end of June. As of yesterday that means I need to lose 34 lbs. It's plenty doable if I actually try.
-
220 was where I was at a few years back. I have a huge problem with eating enough to actually gain weight. I have a terrible tendency to fluctuate in weigh due to poor diet habits. Maybe I should work on squaring that away...
-
But summer is already over...

Yeah, diet is really my problem too, but I have the opposite problem. Even when I eat healthy food, I still have a tendency to overeat. If I can manage to stay busy, I can keep myself out of the fridge, but when I am stuck in the house it's hard to resist. I also have a weakness for good beer, and at about 200 calories per, it does not take much to negate a weeks worth of workouts.
I've actually been training for a sprint distance triathlon. It's 600 yds swim, 15 mile bike and 5k run. I really hate running, but I've gotten to the point where I can finish the swim and run distances. The bike was never an issue. I made a couple 50 mile rides last summer. Only problem now is that I just found out that the registration list is full, so I have to find another one. This (http://runruckus.com) looks like fun.

I used to weigh 185...
now I weight 140.
-
That kinda reminds me of Tough Mudder/Spartan Race, Jenne.
-
I love summer. Freedom to run around and exhaust yourself physically. :3
-
Tough Mudder looks awesome.
Spartan Death Race sounds just insane. "Please only consider this adventure style race if you have lived a full life to date." 48 hr obstacle course. Yep, I could see myself dying.
-
Yeah, I think I'll just pick up MMA again. a few of them were considering TM, I was like why the fuck would I do that.

Here is my diet tip - push 2-3 apples a day into your diet. The junk is what drops out of the menu automatically. So the trick is to be thinking that you need to eat more apples, and not less junk - psychologically works very well. It also has the benefit of keeping your cholesterol low, which means you can better metabolize the junk food you do eat. I did this when I was in the second best shape of my life and had to pass the aero-medical exam for my pilot's license.
When I was in the best shape of my life (20 years ago), I ate anything I wanted and burned the calories through sex, and if wanting, a highly disciplined regimen of masturbation.
-
My goal is to get up to 115 lbs. No clue if I'll actually make it since I've had no luck gaining weight before. But we're gonna try to do that "working out" thing soon. Who knows, I might be able to gain muscle mass!
And I don't want a six pack. I just want a more toned belly.
-
115 pounds? Damn, I don't remember the last time I weighed that little -- probably was close to 16 years ago. I think the closest I got was after my back surgery when I couldn't eat properly for about a month, and even then I got down to 125 or 130. I had no muscle to speak of back then. lulz
-
I'm like 117, I want to gain at least 20.
-
The last time I was 115 was 5th grade. Weight limit for Pop Warner football was 100 lbs, so I had to be under that. I weighed in at 119 and had to drop down to be able to play. The next year I moved up to the older group so the weight limit went up to 125, and I had to lose a couple lbs to play that year too. The year after that, I weighed in at 177 and been had been climbing ever since until 4 years ago when I topped out at 335.
I've heard the apple thing works well. A guy I work with eats an apple every day with lunch, but he recently switched to eating it first before the rest of his lunch. He says it fills him up so he does not eat as much of the other food.
-
Not only that, but also it's a great source of natural energy. I believe an apple has the same energy potential as two or three cups of coffee.
-
It does. I actually replaced coffee for a while, but could not get past the concept of the apple AND coffee boost. Sort of like weed and chocolate, but in the other direction.
-
So far, all I have lost is a month.
-
This McDonald's tasted good until right now.
-
It's not summer yet, it's still spring. But you're free to get a head start. :P
-
That depends on where you are on earth.
-
Okay. Well either way, it's not summer. :P It's either spring or fall. So stop being so damn picky and accept there is still time before summer!
-
Well, fall is so far ahead of summer, it might be better described as being after summer. Of course, for a real optimist, even summer is before summer...
-
In Ireland, the summer months according to the national meteorological service, Met Éireann, are June, July and August. However, according to the Irish Calendar summer begins 1 May and ends 1 August. School textbooks in Ireland follow the cultural norm of summer commencing on 1 May rather than the meteorological definition of 1 June.
-
So, Irish textbooks are wrong.
-
Actually, all OTHER textbooks are wrong.
-
Idc. It's still Spring here. That's all that matters to me.
-
I have no clue what season it is here. We had 70's in January, typical winter cold in Feb, 80 degree days in March, shit ass cold in April (again typical, but sucks since March was nice), and this week is damn near 90. I fully expect a blizzard in June.

The Irish call that Swinfalumn. You know I bet that actually means something in Gaelic. Pull out the vowels, and I bet it means something in Welsh.

Either way it's a croc. The Irish only have 3 weeks of summer a year.

So far, all I have lost is two months.
-
4I weighed myself for the first time in 4 months and found that I had gained 15 lbs over winter. I cut back on my beers and fast food and lost it all without even trying that hard. Why does everything so good have to be so bad?

Sex is known to be a great form of exercise when done well.

Because without bad there is no good.

I had no idea, but this is true.
And 115 pounds... cute. I'm starting the gym tomorrow (or later today technically). Got several friends getting a membership with me or doing Insanity. I'm not really sure what my goal is. I've never been in good shape, unless we're counting circles. I kinda just want to be healthy. And good at sports. I've a lot of guy friends.
Edit: Leo must weigh like, 40 Lbs

Do you 'exercise' a lot?
-
I used to weigh 65 Kgs, then I weighed 93 Kgs, now I weigh 77 Kgs...
The military does fucked up things to you.
-
Leo, I was refering to how sex = burning calroies like madness = you must be skinny. Its okay though, I know where you're at now : P
GrilledSlug : Not when the SO is in Oklahoma (I'm in NYC).

Does your SO 'exercise' a lot?

You should try Scotland.

You should try Scotland.
You've exercised in Scotland?
-
He has exercised with the sheep there. He gets them at the edge of a cliff so they push back for an even more explosive workout.
-
Bah, I opened that door... I exercise with them, you eat 'em...
