@_@ Two days ago on my phone I got a text message saying, "Come over when ur done."
I was like, "Wtf" and ignored it. I never use my phone to text, and no one even knows my freaking number. I just use it for emergencies. Next day, "Come over again when ur done." or something. Like someone has been replying to them, except I ignored them. And an hour later they say, "Don't do it!" Confused, I ask my mom if people can get ahold of my address on accident. They can't, she says. Then I write back and say I don't know them, please stop texting me. After all, it costs money. Then they write back, "I so know you."

unlimited text is $5 a month for me. i dont even text that much (100 or so per month) and its still cheaper to go with the unlimited one than to pay individually.
as for the creepiness, its no big deal. someone from california calls me every week asking for some guy called santiago. once my friend got a slew of texts about some guy's dog dying. if it doesnt stop after you tell them its the wrong number, scare them back. say something really creepy.

Something like that happens to me sometimes. Like recently I got a call on my phone> i didn't recognize the number so I let it ring. The person leaves a voicemail. I check it and its some thick jamaican accent and I think it said "fuck you" somewhere in it. I was so freaked out because it sounded like someone was using a voice changer.

and it's all true.
whether the RIA is 'worse' is relative to what someone wants. for someone who wants more srs game oriented alliance it is probably better than it was before. for someone who wants less RI culture, less jokes, and less forum disorganization and rules-bucking, it's better than it was before. all I said was that, relative to my tastes, it is worse than it was before. and you said yourself that things change; anyone who says the emphasis of the RIA culture hasn't changed, is goddamn blind. there are some similarities between now and the past but in terms of lulz and chillaxity the forums are a shadow of what they were before. we've grown in other ways, the RIA is by no means 'dying.' it's just different. different in a way that bores me but entertains others.

I understand what llama is saying and he's right. Things are always changing and that can't be stopped. Sometimes, as in llama's case, you prefer life before the change even though you know that it can never be like that ever again.

Though I can't believe it, I've been around here for some time now--not as long as some, but longer than a lot of others. So I'll way in.
I've seen the RIA go through two major patterns:
1. CRISIS (e.g. the Asplosion) --> REACTION --> Comradely Behavior/Bring Us All Together/Viva La RIA! -->CRISIS
2. Old Members leave --> New Members Join --> Old Members complain --> Old Members leave
There's time and time again this talk of the RIA losing it's old flavor, but the fact of the matter is that at the time that llama is idealizing, people were saying the exact same thing he's saying.

you're completely fucking retarded. many times over the months I've posted paragraph long shit on serious topics. and several times I have become very vocal about policy decisions, again logging in several tldrs. my argument hasn't changed, in fact I wasn't even starting an argument or complaining. I just said 'things are different from how I like so good luck guys you do your thing I'm not playing that way.' and then people asked me why or asked me to stay, and when I went into detail about my position you and whoever else started disagreeing with me.
we used to have a lot more lulz, we used to have a lot more activity that wasn't just srs bzns activity about playing the game. I liked it that way. It has changed. That's fine. I have no right to tell people to only enjoy things the way I enjoy them. I don't think RIA owes it to me to stay the same if most of the members want to keep changing, go for it. but you're pretty oblivious if you can't tell that things have changed. and that's the only thing I'm arguing with if I am arguing at all; this idea that things are just as lulzy and insane and random as they were before. because they're not.
I even went to special lengths to make sure that I did what I could to fix the 'problem' if it even is a problem. I'm not even really complaining. but I went to special lengths to do what I could to influence the RIA to be random and insane and embody the ideals I believed in. and once I felt like most people weren't with that I didn't think it woudl be right to influence so I stopped trying. even the way I stopped trying I made sure not to be just complaining about shit I did nothing about.
tldr: I've done shit tons of things on teh forums here and you're retardedly out of touch, czom. I mean I like you as a fellow member but god help us if you become tri because if you are as clueless about other RIAer's sentiments as you are about mine, and as ignorant of their posts as you are of mine, then you'd be a liability in a representative role.
and GPM: I remember older members complaining of what I'm talking about. I took that into account when I looked back over the years; there have been many many times I was bored but thought, let's stay and see if it gets more interesting, and in the meantime let's try to make it interesting. And, that often worked. But, in spite of my attempts, there has still been a steady decline in the kind of activity I enjoy. There may be momentary surges and lapses, but overall the style of the RIA continues to change away from an active random insane chillax community, toward a more sedated game-focused one.
I've seen many cycles and many old people burritos. even taking that into account I've seen a trend in changing of the alliance focus. this is because the most motivated srs players stay in government and stay active, and the most motivated chillax insanity fun people, well no one wants them in gov because more of the membership wants to save their pixels, so these people have less and less power to be themselves in the context of the game, so they get bored because they can't represent their own internal ratios of chillaxity/srs/lulz etc. because the government, and probably most of the membership, prefer to play srsly, and so that's the direction the RIA goes, and this marginalizes the style that anyone else wants to play in. which is fine. if RIA wants to play that way they should do so. just don't give me shit as if I'm making this all up. it's plain as day to anyone who actually gives a shit about that kind of game style.
