Yup. Obama travels to South Africa costing $100 Million, while not even 5% of that could have covered the 4th of July fireworks for all the military bases in the US that had to cancel due to budget cuts.

Call me simple, but setting off fireworks on a military base with stockpiles of weapons is probably not a great idea anyhow.  Maybe Obama is not the problem.  Buy 1 less F-35, and the military could cover their own fireworks expenses for a decade.  And pay for Obama's trip to Africa...

Well, if only 5% of that cost would have covered the expense, then the trip did not have anything to do with the cuts.  It's not like they chose to eat bologna for a week to take a vacation.  Besides, these guys have access to way better fireworks that you would ever see in a 4th of July display.

Not to mention, it's not like you can just shift money from the presidential travel budget to the military leisure fund.  Corporate/Govt budgets don't work that way.

- fill in the appropriate forms,
- apply, and pay for their "rights" permits,
- have their banners approved by the Central Democratic Committee for Respect and Social Inclusiveness,
- demonstrate that participants are equipped with required safely equipment,
- start not before 11:am,
- and ensure that they have cleared the square before the Military's live fire parade starting at 11:10am,

...there really should not be any issues.
