Thank guys . I imagine I will reroll, but probably not for a week or so - I'm going to Boston to do a songwriting course at Berklee college of music next Sunday, and I'm not sure if I'll have internet access/how much time I'll have. No point in starting again if I'm gonna get deleted.

Looks like I got deleted. I was mid-sled and suddenly and unexepctedly lost internet access for a week. I'm pretty sure I last updated on Saturday, which was 14 days into a sled, and first got internet again today, which I suppose makes it 20 on the dot, but still... grrr...

I am assuming I've been deleted, cos I can't log in. Trying to work out if I can be arsed to recreate my nation. Not that I don't enjoy hanging out with all you lovely people, but because I was just starting to get somewhere, and I feel a little deflated. Plus I feel quite guilty about all the cash and help you guys gave me which is now effectively wasted because my moron flatmate turned the internet off when he left >.<

Ah, but that's not a contemporal but a contiguous present - the give in that sentence doesn't operate like you think it does. For it to throw up that temporal paradox, it would have to be "I have higher self-esteem than I am giving myself credit for", as that is an immediate, contemporal present. Even then, I'm still not sure it's a paradox, because it itself is not continuous - it might be temporarily a contradiction, but once you have raised either your esteem or your expectation/assessment of your esteem to match, then the contradiction ceases. Contrast with "I am always lying" where the universal quantifier always creates a genuine self-propagating contradiction, and therefore a paradox. See the difference?

Well, I'm supporting Turkey, being half Turkish. We might get out of the group stages - we are more than capable of beating Switzerland and we can beat the Czech Republic. We were world cup semi-finalists 6 years ago - the team's changed, but the spirit's still there.

Home bias aside, I'd really like to see Spain come alive for once, Holland too. Both teams with quality all over the pitch, pound for pound awesome squads, but neither have been able to play as a team and get some good form going in recent years. Obviously Italy and France are hard to overlook, Germany have a seriously easy route overall. I think Portugal are overrated, they really don't have a lot of quality except in midfield, which isn't enough to win you a championship.

A paradox is an inherent self-propagating contradiction - "I am always lying" for example.

"I have a higher self-esteem than I give myself credit for" is certainly a contradiction, but it's not self-propagating, it's self defeating - once you have raised your self-esteem to the level you give youtself credit for (or gave), there is no inherent continuation. Hence, self-defeating prophecy/command, not a paradox.
