Winter Is Coming

So the HBO show 'Game of Thrones' premieres on Sunday. It's based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, which I had heard of but never read. I picked them up a couple weeks ago and plowed through the first one (A Game of Thrones, on which season one is based) in a weekend. It is, quite honestly, amazing, and now I'm incredibly pumped for the premiere this weekend.

A few other highlights:
The protagonist(ish since there are a lot of main characters) is played by Sean Bean aka Boromir
The (less nice) queen is played by Sarah Conner from the Sarah Conner Chronicles
My favorite character is being played by Peter Dinklage (The dwarf from The Station Agent)
The Mongol-esque warlord across the sea is being played by Ronin from Stargate Atlantis

Anyone else looking forward to Game of Thrones or is A Song of Ice and Fire fan?

I'm currently half-way through book two, so no spoilers.

But from everything I've read, they've done a really good job of staying faithful to the books and making the whole thing come alive. There have actually been a few clips I've seen where I said the dialogue along with the actor because I remembered the conversation from the book. Plus, the guy they cast as Tyrion is literally the guy I had based my mental image of the character on, and he's supposed to absolutely steal the show.

Watched the entire 1st season and loved loved loved it!  Can't wait for the upcoming season.  It was so good that I actually contemplated reading the books.
