I'm cracking into my dad's beer fridge, since he seems to need help cleaning it out. Allow me to back up a bit to explain why he has too much.
My dad used to brew beer. He was one of those guys who would actually send his beer into Homebrew Association contests. He won. A lot. And each time he won, they sent him some beer for free. Beer he doesn't like. So I'm going to review one of the different beers he got.
Beer: Genesee Cream Ale.
Smell: It smells like your typical cheap beer. If you told me this was Bud or Miller lite, I'd believe you until I tasted it.
Taste: It's more flavorful than the smell hints at. It's quite smooth. It seems to me to have everything I want in a beer in balance, but it's just an average beer.
Final thoughts: Basically, if you're looking for a good, smooth beer, this is a pretty good beer. It's very light and flavorful. I'm only giving this a 7/10, though, because it just tastes average. This isn't something that I'd go out of my way to buy.

Genny Cream Ale is one of the worst beers I have ever had. I'd rather drink the asshole out of a warm Bud.
-
It's not THAT bad, but it's not that good, either, which is why I said it was average.
-
Ok, that may have been a little bit of an exaggeration, but 7/10? Come on. It's 3/10 on a good day. There are worse beers, but not many.
But then again, I am a bit of a beer snob.

*Shrugs* I suppose I'm just not as picky as you are. =P

meh, kingfisher, strong, ftw...

C+ on beer advocate. Sounds about right.
As a daily drinker, I prefer Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. For something special, I'd go for a Dogfishhead 90 Minute IPA or most any Belgian (style) Double.

to review a beer you need to have several on several occasions so you can weed out the skunk factor.

I recently had an Erdinger Weissbier
--- That stuff was good *thumpsup*

Always good stuff. I prefer the dunkle, but it's not as easy to find, and lest in anything other than single bottles.

dunkel is only good with food.. same for kilkenny (irish beer i think) or guiness.
but i was basically too poor to buy food at that point, so i just had beer

we have limited choice here so RC, Haywards and Kingfisher are the best you can get outta the local variety.
