All of you...suck.

There's a few visualizers floating around that do stuff like that. The middle one hasn't been updated for a while and doesn't work with recent versions of DF. The top and bottom screenshots DO work with the latest release (or at least the second- or third-latest versions, which is close enough); the true 3D one is Overseer (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=63484.0), and the isometric one is Stonesense (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=43260.0).
last screeny source plz
That's actually mine. Quote from the DF forums with more screenies:
The plateau is 100 z-levels above the valley floor, give or take a couple.

This fortress brought to you by Shadowlord and Markavian, the makers of the Map Compressor and Map Archive. 1.7 gigabytes of BMPs were disemboweled in ritual sacrifice to summon this map archive. The .fdf file is 283 kilobytes. Dear Armok, that's a lot of compression. Kudos, guys.

Too bad full color support in the 3D utilities wasn't finished until after the big save compatability break.

Someone built part of a 16-bit computer in minecraft.

I'd prefer a debt card like any other e-tailer.

Pfft. That's nothing. DF uses an entire core.
Excerpt from today's DF development log:
An eyeless, horned woman shambled out of the woods and dragged off an unfortunate villager to her lair. After a time, the transformation was complete, and the man became known as a "dusk ogress mate", having become a horrible creature similar to his new spouse. Eventually, he fathered a dusk ogress, the children of his first wife forgotten, and he began to make visits to nearby villages himself to kill the innocent. Fortunately, he never attacked his old village, for he would not have recognized his previous family if he had.
Of course, it's not a dev log story if it doesn't have a bug. Instead of staying out in the woods, the dusk ogress mate maintained a lingering connection to his old civilization and moved into a town. Despite his eyelessness, he made a fine fishery worker, and the townspeople never noticed that he was going off every few years to bring terror to neighboring communities. They didn't notice the horns either.

The computer on minecraft was extremely badass, I was surprised at how fast it worked.

I play loads of both Minecraft and DF Both are completely worth it. Minecraft will kick DF's ass after notch finally gets to the multiplayer part working to the point that there is challenge to it. I would love to see the two games merged but that is prob just very wish full thinking. Altho multiplayer DF would kick just as much ass if you could do two forts side by side.
oh and minesweeper is for lame ye olde timers
-
Minecraft is in my list of games I don't want to play out of fear of getting too addicted, next to EVE and those Paradox games like Victoria and Europa Universalis.
-
minesweeper :smug:
Ueropa Universalis is a good game, I wouldn't call it addicting though. A good way to kill a few hours though.

I tried EVE.
Not very addicting. I had heard great things, but I just couldn't get into it, and I love Sci-Fi.
Raging Hard-On for any game having to do with Outer-Space/the Future.
