Title: Occupy Chicago...
Post by: Pterrydactyl on October 24, 2011, 05:26:24 pm
So, as a Digital Cinema student, I shall be there filming this sat/sun.  If anyone from RIA plans to goto occupy Chicago, let me know, I'll happily interview you.

Can you relay a message for me?

"You are all smelly hippies and should shut up. Thank you."

I'm actually going to be there. If you want to interview me, I'll be the guy with the weird hat.

Gonna need a bit more specific than that leo.  Or just find me and my crew.  We will all be wearing Bright blue DEPAUL DEMONS shirts and will have a camera and boom mic.  As far as I know, were the only group filming this weekend.

I'll be pretty into the whole occupying and all, so just yell Leo a few times to help me find you. Actually, use the human microphone to find me, just call for Leo Turtle a couple of times.

And yes, my hat shall be ridiculous.

Man, if I could get to Chicago, I would totally do this.

Leo and his ridiculous hats are why these protests aren't being taken seriously.

But if I were in the Chicago area I would totally be down with that because my hipocrisy knows no bounds.

On the contrary, bum, I believe that my extravagant hats create a metaphor as people wonder why I can complain about not being able to afford lunch after all the money I put into my hat. It's like asking for a tax cut if I were rich.

I'll be there, dressed as a smelly hippy, and drawling something like, "contemporize, man" to anyone wearing a tie.

So, I filmed the Occupy Chicago stuff yesterday and... It's a bit crazy.

I'm not sure if they have a clear goal or not. They marched to city hall, and then right up to the mayors office. They went between chanting and sitting in solidarity about every 10 minutes. It seemed more like an attempt at media than anything else. I mean, a representative from the mayors office came out to take their petitions, and told them that another representative wanted to meet with their leader about their demands.

Some moron with a megaphone told the representative that if the other representative wanted to talk to them about it, she would have to go to one of their general assemblies. really, I think that was the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

I mean, they marched on city hall, got the mayors attention, and a rep to want to meet with their leader to start solving the problem, and they basically told her to fuck off. He knew that she wouldn't go to one of their general assemblies. I was at one of there general assemblies and they are chaotic.

They announce the days plan and then let any crazy who wants to spread information about their unrelated protest do it. Did you know that some of them are complaining about the annual film-festival Chicago holds? They claim it's a plot to sponsor violence in the middle-east or some crazy shit like that. WHAT THE HELL?

It was seriously creepy.  I mean, this middle-aged fucktard is leading about 500 teenagers and early twenties kids in protest with about a hundred different demands.

Boggles the shit out of my mind.

Leo, on your WORST DAY your IQ is greater than his by factors of 10.

The Mayor pretty much said, "I give into your demands" and they said "LOL COME ADMIT IT HERE".

I'm not the best at public speaking. Next time I'll try to rehearse my lines a little more before I take the megaphone.

Well, they've been protesting and occupying for over a month now, I figured they had at least a few specific goals.

You'd think all of the dipshits would drop their theatrics and start to get serious eventually. But no. They'll just keep on beating their bongo drums and chanting about how evil rich people are.

Apparently, they are super-paranoid now.  They caught an "embedded" fox reporter who was filming them under the guise of... I don't even know what?  Anyway, now they are requiring credentials or noone will talk to you.  Luckily, I have a depaul ID and depaul CTA pass, which pretty much means I'm eithering spending 10k to not goto depaul, or I am.

Anyway, today was MUCH better.  Some define goals, they were telling the public what they have problems with and why, and a few other things.  Not so shit-crazy as the city-hall day.  Apparently, there are a number of them that are working for goals and were equally upset when that douche said that to the rep.  so, not all of them are fucktards.

Don't get me wrong, a great number of them are fucktards, but the occupy movement is apparently a bunch of smaller causes that have linked together.

for example, yesterday, one of the big things they were doing was protesting a hotel that has been abusing it's staff and treating them like slaves.  They hadn't given their staff a raise in 30 years, and most were making minimum wage.  They went on strike 8 years ago, and the hotel refuses to negotiate.

Another group they protested, was Trader Joes, for their treatment of farm workers and refuse to enter into the deal/agreement thing that most fast-food and stores did that forces them to not abuse their workers, and pay them decent wages.

So, within the fucktards, are a few groups that are actually trying to benefit humanity, and I think that if any changes come from occupy, it will probably by to those groups.
