Why was it rotated 180 degrees? Is that the real atrocity that the Europeans committed in Africa?

Most of the bigger nations on the map (Songhai, Kongo, Sokoto, etc.) were already in decline before colonization. So chances are another major power player would of came up in the surrounding area instead of the British and Portuguese merchants and sailors. Then we would restart the cycle and end up with expanding and contracting African kingdoms. However, I find it rather unlikely that Europeans would have never colonized or influenced Africa at all.

They would have had to come to Europe just to learn the Latin alphabet, or they wouldn't be able to read their own maps.
