Title: Am I overeacting?
Post by: Damen on May 04, 2007, 04:10:09 pm
I have a 78 in Science. I got a 58 on a test today...

;_;

Now, I'm in a bad mood. As this is my first C since 6th grade (in 8th), and the teacher taught nigh nothing.

>_> I can probably raise this by the end of school, but I dunno.

You're talking to an A average student. Aside from that C, I have all As.

Bad grade, bad mood?  Sounds normal.

dont get all pissed just because you have a C+ in science next test or quiz could bring it up to a B or B+.

A C isn't bad, and you are in 8th grade. Colleges start looking at grades more throughly when you hit your HS years. So don't bug out over it.

@.@

I think I did the math wrong.

I got a 17.8/31 on the test

Total Points - 256        Possible Points - 305        Percent - 83.93%        Grade - B

Lesse...

With a 17.8 on the test...

I would add that to the 256...

Which is 273.8

THEN

Divide that by 305 + 31

Which is 336...

After dividing, I get .81

Which is an 81%.

Yayz. I don't have a C+, I have a B-

Now...

Time for some moar math.

273.8 + 20 extra credit that I'm doing.

87%?

@_@

If I play my cards right, I can actually get this up to an A- for a perfect A average

I'm in 10th grade and i barely followed that math. (I suck at math) but like taladrea said don't worry about it till High school. word of advice when your in high school: Do all work and projects. dont slack off or you WILL be screwed, and will  barely /never be able to recover from it.

Just cause you are bored with the work doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. I know someone who never does his homework, and just scans the book before the test and still passes. Mind you he is in a couple of AP classes and he graduates this year. But, because of his lack of homework and stuff it has made him goto a Community College for 2 yrs then transfer to his college of choice...which was MIT.

Spazz out over grades in HS and College, not Middle School. Enjoy your kid years while you can!

I had 256/305.

>_> 83.

Now, I add the grades from my Science Test together.

(x + 256)/(z + 305)

x Being the number correct
z Being the number possible

x = 17.8
z = 31

Thus,

273.8/336.

And to find the percent grade, I take:

M/N

M being the number possible
N being the number correct

336/273.8

.81

Multiplied by 100.

81%

Then...

I had a 273.8/336

But with 20 Extra credit points (Think of it as 20/0), I have

293.8/336

=O

Repeat the steps listed above

M/N

336/293.8

87%.

(In case you haven't noticed, I love algebra)

I had a 36% going in to my science exam. Passed the class with a 50.0% and I was damn happy about it.

Wait...passed with a 50.0%? Thats an F.

And I can't vote in polls for some reason. <_<

Personally I say you're not reacting enough, but hey thats just me. I'm not allowed to get anything lower than a B on Report Cards.

... You're an All-A student, so it's more than just a normal deal to you.

However, you should learn to lighten up a bit about it.

8th grade?

Have fun in high school. I was straight-As all grade school, when high school came, BOOM, 70s, 60s, sometimes lower. I got a grade in the 40s on my report card once. I also got a 0 on a math test...that I answered every problem to.
