Everyone knows about them "what are you...?" threads, this is another one. I figured I'd start it since it was on my mind. Pretty much post what game you're currently playing. Rules are, no games on the Internet (ie. a browser game like Cybernations, KingsofChaos, Nationstates, etc., also to examplify: flash-based games) and no double-posting to prevent spam. You can also state why you're playing if for a particular reason.
Since I started it, I'll go first.
Haunting Ground - I never did finish it, despite the fact I owned it since it came out. And since I lost my data, I had to start over and I love the story from how far I got with it.
-
bioshock: picked it up for $8 so why not?
-
Rune Factory and Planescape.
-
Right now I'm playing Company of Heroes with C-Zom (2v2 matches ), and also I'm playing Railroad Tycoon 3 because I thought I'd like something a little more...cerebral in my life, since after I started college and work at the same time I've been mostly too burnt out to read or play the other strategy games I usually do.
-
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
-
I'm switching up between a couple of games right now.
Mercenaries, Sega Soccer Slam, DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball, Amped 2, and I also have Red Faction 2 and Destroy All Humans that I just bought recently as well.
-
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. I can't beat the last damn set on Hard! >_<
-
Spam is not a worry here, TC.
I'm playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I've had it for a while, but I only just started it. It's pretty fun. I'm also doing Halo 3 multiplayer all the time, because that game demands me playing it.
-
Battlefield 2142
I'm working on becoming the best knifer in the game in the knife only servers. I don't care if it ends up with my stats being wiped, b/c it'll only take less than a day to get my rank again.
-
Kicking ass in 2v2 matches with Joker on Company of Heroes. Also playing Zombie Master and Insurgency (Both are mods for Half-life 2.) Bioshock, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Dawn of War too.
-
Dawn of War. I love the game, to bad my wi-fi connection isn't good enough to play online.
-
You play Dawn of War John? I'd love to play online with you, but you say you can't.
-
Nope... I have only played online once or twice, actually i was surprised how well i did in comparison to others.
I usually play AI or my brother on my LAN.
-
Aw man. Dester55 plays too, it'd be cool for us three to play sometime. Ah well.
What race do you play? I'm either Space Marines or Necrons.
-
Warcraft III is the best. Dawn of War is good, too.
-
Warcraft III is kinda weak. The graphics are pretty terrible, and its not that exciting. Hero system is broken to hell, and the factions are pretty unbalanced.
-
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion/Shivering Isles/Knights of the Nine
-
I play World in Conflict and Guitar hero:III
-
World in Conflict...I need to start playing that again sometime. It's kind of brainless, but fuck me does it get the adrenaline going, like no RTS out there. Except maybe CoH.
-
Solitaire. Because it's better than homework.
-
World in Conflict is /way/ too brainless for me. And its sitll $60 at Gamestop.
-
Guitar Hero II (haven't gotten III yet)
Flyff
-

Space Marines since the first version, got pretty good at dropping tons of Dreadnoughts in my brothers base at the most inopportune times.
Warcraft III is kinda weak. The graphics are pretty terrible, and its not that exciting. Hero system is broken to hell, and the factions are pretty unbalanced.
Warcraft 3 is pretty fun. I used to be pretty good at making custom maps and triggers... it's pretty much devolved to playing DOTA at the netcafe with my friends.

Yeah That game is
-
Team Fortress 2 and I'm about to get back into Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption. I've played the SP game over 30 times since 1999 and I'm getting the itch to play it again but online.
-
Neverwinter Nights 2
Basically mastered the first one online and in single player, so decided to try this one. I prefer the 1st, as the 2nd is more of just a Graphics show with poorer gameplay.
-
I have Dawn of War, up to Winter Assault.
If anyone wants to play a bit, I suck, but it would be fun.
-
I am playing Lunar Wars, Tribal Wars, Adventure Quest, Mech Quest, and Need for speed Underground 2.
-
GTA San Andreas(PS2) cuz its f***ing savage!!!!!
-
im ABOUT to go play Dead Rising, flask's story inspired me in ways. I decided to bring 10 propane tanks into the centre of the mall, then, as i stand far above in a restaurant, i shall shoot the tanks. then zombies go boom (hopefully the mall will catch fire, but i doubt it)

I used to play Civ4, was fun too...
I'm now playing FFXII, to finish it up as well followed by Valkyrie Profile 2. I finished Haunting Ground with Ending A this afternoon and still playing it too to get the other endings. Anyhow, I figured I should finish up all my current games I've yet to beat while waiting on Assassin's Creed.
Edit: Fixed MGS4 error, meant Assassin's Creed.

Heh, I personally prefer FFXII's combat strategy. FFIX is the only FF I don't like of that I've played (FFXI, FFX, and FFVIII are favorites of mine.)
-
How IS Civ 4 compared to Civ 3? Civ 3 was easily one of my favorite games of all time, so for me it has some big shoes to fill. And everywhere I go it still seems pretty expensive.

I LOVE it. Especially now with Beyond the Sword. Great multi-player finally, much more in-depth, but easier to manage at the same time. AI is much improved, as are most aspects of the game. You can actually download and try the demo of the game if you're not sure you want to buy it.

dats how i feel bout it too but Civ4 does sound worthy so maybe its time to spring for it lol

da combat strategy is there but the combat system sux lol da whole reason i like FFIX is the ability learning system where you battle w/ a weapon until you learn that weapons abilities then you can equip abetter weapon using those newly learned abilities. FFX and FFX-2 took that away which pissed me off but it was a trade off cuz the sphere grid was awesome. plus FFIX has my two favorite characters Blank and Zidane Blank is a savage cuz he has a F***ing belt over his eyes and Zidane has a monkey tail lol. btw how did you get your hands on FFVIII i can't find one anywhere!

I meant the combat system really...
As for FFVIII, I still got my original 4 discs from when it came out in 1999-first game I bought for my Playstation. I also have a greatest-hits set since the original 4 are scratched beyond belief.
I would honestly have to play Civ3/Civ4 again to give a worthwhile opinion on that.

well i love the graphics of FFXII but i'm still happy w/ the older turn-based Final Fantasy i guess i just have to get used to them branching now if FFXIII comes out w/ a combat system like say KOTOR2 i'll be perfectly happy
damn wat a find i had to go halfway down Cali to find FFIX but FFVI, FFVII,and FFVIII i can't find to save my life

AI is much improved, as are most aspects of the game.
I don't care about multiplayer much (though if I got it I wouldn't mind playing with a few RIAers once I got the hang of it), and I didn't have much trouble managing in Civ 3, but better AI would be awesome. The AI really sucked in wars, strategically speaking, unless their nation was more technologically advanced and generally bigger, and they always got all kinds of lame bonuses on the higher difficulties, which I hate.

Sorry for double posting, but did you try eBay or Amazon or any of those good sites?
If you can't find it on eBay, it doesn't exist.

Wartime and peacetime AI is improved. The AI now has distinct personalities. The AI no longer hates you for no apparent reasons, you can see the pluses and negatives in your relations with them. National Religions play a role in diplomacy. Trade is also greatly improved. Barbarians now form cities. Improved battle system (though still not perfect). Great people and improvements allow for greater specializing of cities. No more Civil Disorder or city size cap. Unhappiness and Unhealthiness now handled differently. Unhappiness means you get no production from the unhappy citizens. Unhealthiness means less food is produced. Beyond the Sword introduces Corporations that you can spread for bonuses, resources, or for royalties. BTS also allows you to spawn off unproductive cities into a Colony which becomes a Vassal State to you. During war your enemy can surrender and become your Vassal State (with Warlords or BTS).
Overall I loved Civ, Civ2, Civ3, but Civ4 is the hands down best IMO.

regularly: soldat, lord of the rings online
irregularly: BF2142, farcry, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (one of the best games ever if it werent for bugs), simcity 4
recently did half life 2, so I might go pick up the 'next chapter'
game I miss: AvP
I used to play the civs, i liked civilization Call to Power bc it let you advance farther technologically, and build orbital cities and underwater cities.

i say one on ebay but people were already saying they'd pay like $1,000 for it and i can't compete w/ that lol

FFXII- so far I like it. Reminds me more of Vagrant Story what with all the political stuff, not to mention the music, battle system, and style.
-
So the games I'm interested in right now to buy based off of this thread are...
Civ4
Halflife 1, 2 etc
Dead Rising
Any other suggestions?

bioshock is great if you like horor shooters

Currently playing Fable: The Lost Chapters. Saying that I am always playing it. I play it as it is a good game to while a way the hours on the bus or lorry or whatever.
Also playing WWE 2007 because I love playing wrestling games, and also NationStates.
-
Any other suggestions?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a good realism fps/survival crossover with an element of rpg, and quite immersive. just make sure you patch it if you buy it. should be cheap now, 20-30
-
I play WoW (just started), Silent Hill (I'm on the second one ... again, just started), and Sims2.
I'm not much of a gamer, but I have fun nonetheless :-)
-
The Elder Srolls: Morrowind
I know I am outdated on this one, but I just started to enjoy playing it again.

Utopia ^^
I know it's a browser game but it owns, also I don't care too much for your so-called "rules"

If you haven't played F.E.A.R., you'll never experience a game full of horror and gore. With it coming from someone who has no fears and not scared by any horror movie/game period... well you get the idea.
Neforatu, Morrowind is awesome.
Well if you wanna talk WoW, I'll put in FFXI since I'm continuously playing it and am a veteran FFXI-player. Which should be obvious from my nation's name, as one of FFXI's areas is Konschtat Highlands. (Dantai - Hume Female - Levels: 75DRG, 75WHM, 70RDM, 53SMN, etc.; Bastok rank 10, San d'Oria rank 10, Windurst rank 6, Zilart Missions completed, CoP@8-4, ToAU@44, and Private-First Class rank in Assault.)

The Elder Srolls: Morrowind

something about morrowind, that was lost in oblivion, although I liked oblivion too.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (just came out this week! :-)) and Dawn of War Dark Crusade.

I agree. I thought Oblivion was good on its own (except for the vampirism, that sucked period in Oblivion). But c'mon, nowhere near as good as Morrowind even with many of the major mods. However, I would give it to Oblivion for having the some of the best graphics for the year. But still, it just seemed to have too many flaws. In particular, I didn't like the new vampire system (or it having no lycanthropy infection). The biggest flaw that ruined it for me was they went too down-to-the-letter on the character customization. I never could get the character I liked.

Cybernations. =p
-
Speaking of Vapmirism I should reinstall and play Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines again.....
-
Playing: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Im playing it because i just got the shivering Isle expasion pack and its a lot of fun.

If I buy Oblivion again, I'm buying the PS3's GOTY-version. But with Assassin's Creed in a few days followed by the Wings of the Goddess expansion pack for FFXI in later-November, probably won't be until late December I get it. (Then again, that could also depend on MGS4's release date too.)

The unofficial 4.3 patch was just released. If you have a decent graphics card, you may want to try some models that Tessera enhanced, they look pretty damn good. I'm an admin/forum moderator at PlanetVampire.com.

International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, version argentinian football, in the Zsnes emulator.
-
recently i started playing a lot of a much-overlooked older game:
TROPICO
-
I keep returning to Tropico time and time again....
-
Tropico is my favorite city-builder type game ever
I always get couped as the game goes on, though - I always turn on the modifier that gives extra rebels, so my island often degenerates into guerilla warfare and into a communist-military dictatorship. As the military gets more dominant, they get more demanding, and it saps my economy and eventually coup time. I have yet to be overthrown by rebels or tonicular uprising, though.

Currently playing... Mass Effect.
-
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Guitar Hero 2
Can't get enough Guitar Hero for some reason.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Guitar Hero 2
Can't get enough Guitar Hero for some reason.
Loved Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. It was one of those games that got me insanely sad when it was over, such a good game. Played Guitar Hero II to death, beat all modes and got 5 stars on all Easy/Medium songs. Tried to do the same for Hard, but 3/4 of the way through it I finally went back to my PC.
Right now I'm kind of in transition, beat Neverwinter Nights II and Mask of the Betrayer (NWN2 Expansion) not too long ago, so kind of lingering in IRC and on Forums until something new tonics up.
