Download spybot here.

And download this too. Between the two of them they should get most anything that isn't a virus, and Spybot may even catch a few of those too, not sure.

I work as a computer technician, so I see spyware all the time.

Step 1:  In Safe Mode run  SmitFraudFix (http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php)

Step 2:  Install and run Spyware Doctor Starter Edition (Free) (http://www.pctools.com/downloads/sdstart.exe)

This solves most spyware problems.
If your problem persists I would also recommend giving CounterSpy (14-day trial) (http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com)

Norton is completely useless with spyware, and is too much of a resource hog for anything else.
Give AVG FREE (http://free.grisoft.com) a try for anti-virus or if you really want a suite Trend Micro's is generally the best out right now.

Let me know if you need further help.

Then you've been lucky and probably haven't really been hit with anything very bad.  We treat Norton itself as a virus now, since spyware can corrupt it and once corrupted it's a PAIN IN THE ASS to remove without the Norton Removal Tool.  And without removing, you cannot repair or reinstall Norton.

I wish you the best with Norton, but highly recommend against it for everyone.
