High five.

I have recently learned...

Quote
His publishers and others have sometimes echoed the unconventional capitalization in his poetry by writing his name in lower case and without periods. Cummings himself used both the lowercase and capitalized versions, but according to his widow did not, as reported in the preface of one book,[1] have his name legally changed to e. e. cummings. He did, however, write to his French translator that he preferred the capitalized version ("may it not be tricksy").[2] Today, one Cummings scholar considers that for the poet to have signed his name all-lowercase may have been a gesture of humility, but for others to do so would be an act of condescension.[3]

But my principle still stands, if someone prefers their name lower case, it should be so.

That said any campaign saying you need to donate to somebody to prevent imminent dictatorship is the kind of shrill hysterics that gives non-mainstream political movements and candidates a bad name and nips their chances at success in the bud.

Ever heard of the Patriot Act?

Money is what elects people these days. If you like a candidate, donate. Or at least buy a bumpersticker. Something.

Furthering the advancement of politicians = you suck.

 Go die in a fire.

This is a thread for the ladies of RIA to post whatever.

You know... pictures of themselves... you can talk amongst yourselves.

If you're ashamed or leery you can post headshots. That's cool.

Just whatever!

I can see if you are in high school and don't have a job. But otherwise...

A group of supporters of presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul have organized an effort to flood the Paul campaign with millions in donations all in one day. Such an event would catapult the congressman into prominence and garner him tens of millions of dollars worth of free media coverage on top of the contributions.

So far around 18,000 have signed up here to donate $100 each to the campaign on November 5th. (That's tonight at 12:00 AM EST.) However, there is no need to sign up to contribute to the Paul campaign, and being an enormous supporter myself, I haven't even done so because I'd rather not give away my email address. The site is receiving 240,000 views per day, not unlikely by many individuals such as me who will contribute without having registered.

The stated goal of thisnovember5th.com is to raise ten million, which I think is unlikely. However, even if they managed to raise a quarter of that, the project will be a massive success. Right now it looks as though they will easily achieve this.

Here is an article that explains the significance of the November 5th date.

If you're a U.S. citizen and a Ron Paul supporter, now is the time to show it. Send the doctor as much as you can. It doesn't have to be $100; it should be as much as you are willing and able to invest to prevent the onslaught of absolute dictatorship in this country. We are closer to it at this very moment than you might imagine; technically and legally, we are already there.

Click here to donate to the Ron Paul campaign.

"Just so you know yes my feelings were hurt glad that makes your day a better one. The troll wagon that rolled in was just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. You don't know me. You do not have any idea what I have been though in the last week, nor do you need to. Just go on your happy little way knowing that you helped take something that actually made me feel a little better wrapped it up in shit and shoved it down my throat. I do not expect you to understand that or even care."

I effected those words.

I hope you stop being an asshole to me. I haven't actually done anything to you, so if you could wrap up those emotions quickly, that would be great.

And yes, I am being an asshole too right now. It's only fair.

Yes, be an asshole to me so I'll stop being an asshole to you. Your logic amazes me.

Treat those as they treat you. Makes sense to me.

The decade had it all. Landmark punk, post-punk, alternative, shoegaze, electronic, new wave, and much more albums were released. I'm not talking about the hair metal here <_<

And just to humor myself, I'll list some o the stuff I'm talkin bout

for punk, Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime (undisputedly one of the best punk albums ever), Delta 5, Dead Kennedys

tons of post punk, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd., The Fall, Echo & the Bunnymen, Mission of Burma, Joy Division

Shoegaze took form in the 80s, stuff like Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain

Tons of great alternative, Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Smiths, Sonic Youth, the Replacements, Smashing Pumpkins, Husker Du, I could go on forever!

New Wave was huge, with Talking Heads, Devo, and XTC being personal faves

And then you have, of course, the beginnings of Nick Cave, in his wilder years with The Birthday Party and first records with the Bad Seeds, all very very good.

Yeah, I love the 80s >_>

For me, most of those types of music just aren't that entertaining so it doesn't matter if it's groundbreaking or not.
