adam sandler generally isn't that funny. his sense of humor is stuck at a certain stage, late 80s early 90s.

whenever a comedian's style of comedy is based on shocking people, it becomes obsolete fairly quickly, and either the comedian keeps developing new 'edgier' shit to keep up with what is on the edge of what shocks society and stimulates society, or their humor becomes a throwback that only a certain group of people enjoy. fortunately comedians can still make money with outdated humor by marketing it to stupid college kids and people who's sense of humor hasn't changed.

that said some of adam sandlers movies have some pretty funny moments, but a lot of it is just dumb. not saying he can't be funny just that one aspect of his comedy is outdated. but some people like it that way so good for them.
I really think you're over-analysing this, not to mention stating your opinion as fact.
Not that I'm defending Sandler. Watching the movies I loved so much 5 years ago, there are really only a couple of laughs along the way. It simply appeals to a younger audience.

Also: Now it's the first half of Star Wars episode 3

Casino Royale

I'm not really a huge fan of the bond series but I find myself unable to form an intelligent argument as to "why". I just don't like the older movies. They haven't aged well--the directing, acting, writing, action sequences are all severely dated and the scenarios Bond gets put in are, for better or for worse, ridiculously easy to win and net the girl in the process. My point being the Bond's of old never felt like actual characters but moreover faceless plotpoints in order to drive the same action movie cliche forward.

So Casino Royale comes along and I reluctantly watched it. But, to my surprise, its probably the best Bond movie I will see or ever will see. Its a very long, open ended, "intelligent" action movie. Bond is an actual character and pretty damn well acted, Eva Green plays an excellent hero turned villain and as a bonus is pretty hot if you ask me, and the villain--while obsurdly cliche down to the very last eye scar--is pretty sweet. I like the amount of detail they put into MI6, "M" and Bond's relationship, Mr White, the side characters and the general broad scope of things. Its a near 3 hour movie packed to the minute with action sequences, decent writing, decent characters and a good backdrop/lore. Its an actual spy movie and not a romp around an impossible scenario with stupid batman-esque gadgets and terribly shit writing. If spy thrillers/action movies is minorly in your interest then I'd just about recommend this, if it weren't for the length and amount of pre-emptive interest it requires. (The amount of lore/tech speak/action is not easy to get into and requires a paticular mindset)

The actual game of poker is fun as shit to watch for some reason too. The pacing and tension in this act of the movie is great.

Final rating, I'd guess, would be around a 7/10.

Just to note...although the poker game was indeed fun to watch, it was almost an impossible scenario.

I have to agree and disagree with you.  I personally found all of the old bonds amazing and thrilling to watch (especially the ones with Sean Connery and Roger Moore).  They basically defined what would become the cliche bad guy.  I do agree however that Casino Royale was more like what one would think an actual spy's job would curtail.  It managed to make an usually boring event to watch such as poker (although playing it is another story) and added depth to it.  I was quite dissapointed when I saw Quantom of Solace and found it to be a return to the old.

The last "new" movie I saw was The Hangover and I must say, I expected much more from it.  Some of it such as Mike Tyson, the tiger, the wedding singer, and the scenes up to getting to Vegas had its moments but other than that I realised that its humor was directed at immaturity.  Every sentence had some variation of F@ck, sh!t, @$$, or b!t@h in it and if you are debating on at least trying to watch make sure nobody under 15 or so watches it or if you respect an elder do not watch it with them.

It really was, but the entire movie threw realism out the window in favor of a entertaining/explosive spy thriller style. I mean, that opening chase scene alone...

Yeah. I agree that the old bond films definately drew the blueprints on what it took to make a cliched bad guy/ridiculous villain. Roger Moore had his moments but, all in all, Sean Connery was one of the more outlandish and boring Bond's on film. But yeah--you're right about Quantum of Solace. That movie might just be awful in my books.

Come to think of it, Casino Royale is a lot like Tom Clancy's Splintercell, fo the most part it is calm and based more on sneaking around to find information than mountain chases in the snow and Halle Berry half-naked (although I personally never have complained).  But Sean Connery to me was more comedic than essentially good acting as Bond, most of his Bond moments were fights against some awful opponents (the fight against the 7 foot man in the rehab center comes to mind)

Only movies I'm even remotely interested in that are coming out soon are Shutter Island and The Crazies. Everything else I either find to be a cash cow or simply poorly made.

Nothing at all looks good to me in the coming months movie wise. Crazies is a possibility but, much like Carriers, I have a feeling the trailer will be quite deceiving.

Saw sherlock holmes again, a nice new, refreshing kinda take on holmes, also, irene addler couldn't have been hotter. the villain could have been...scarier?...
I hope pitt accepts the role of moriarty, he would rock as holmes's arch enemy.

I thought it was very cool.  I like the way they shot everything in that almost old timey way of making everything dark and using the environment to set the mood, rather than just cgi'ing the fuck out of everything to make it scary.  Quite gorey, but not so ridiculous as to make it cheesey.  And, Benicio is ugly enough that you can believe the he is a warewolf even before he changes.

I was surprised how much they got hopkins and benicio to look like father and son.

it was weird adjusting to how they did the werewolf old fashioned style. but I ended up liking it. good flick.
