I used to go biking a lot back in the day, i made a similar blind turn once and on the other side was a car apparently trying to drift at high speeds. I hit it dead on.
I stayed on the bike, my feet still on the pedals, my hands still on the handlebars, and i felt the back of my bike starting to rise, before i knew it, with my front tire pinned to the ground, the back of my cycle had risen to an 80 degree angle with the ground.
It felt like i stayed there for a while. Neatly suspended off the ground, looking at the driver looking at me looking at him... and then, slowly, almost casually, the back of the bike came back down...when it hit the ground, i barely felt a shock... I just sat there. On my bike, with the front tire kissing the front bumper of the car, smack dab in the middle of it. And me, my bike, and the car, all undamaged...
All this happened in about the time it takes to swallow a gulp of water...water that i needed as i rode away and it slowly dawned on me how lucky i was, as the bile rose in my throat...
