Ok, I finished in 7hrs, 3 minutes of straight reading, so I was done by 847 this morning. Who else finished?

Any thoughts? I'm in LOVE with the epilogue/ginny! Also, harry DOESN'T die? I totally figured that he would(oh hells yeah he was a horcux!)

COME ON YOU NERDS! talk to me!

Finished it in 4 hours straight reading.

I was disappointed in the ending. I want a grim ending, I don't want a happy ending. Honestly, it felt like an ending to a god damn Fan Fiction. Completely forced, and all happy. I mean, Fred, Lupin, and Tonks died, but honestly, IMO, the epilogue ruined it. Especially with naming the kids after Dumbledore, James, and Lily. Felt so forced. Personally, like I said, I would've wanted Harry to die.

And on a side note, did anyone else feel like Rowling was catering to fan's theories? Honestly, Harry a horcrux and Snape being in love with Lily and killing Dumbledore because he asked him too. Felt forced.

I hated the names too. I think that I just wanted that though. Maybe theres just already enough bad things, but I want my fiction to make me happier, to be a distraction. I'm not saying your wrong Shamed, just saying I was looking for something different from the book then you. And I think that I would have preferred a longer end to the battle, That is to say, the usual postbattle recap then an epilogue 19 years down the line. Something along the lines of LOTR(the book that is).    Still, I'm a HUGE sucker for the romantic sidestory, and I still LOVE ginny. so that works well.

Dude, I'm a hopeless romantic. I just keep it hidden most of the time.

I love happy endings as much as the next guy, but it just felt so...forced.

I sometimes wonder how many of us dudes really are hopeless romantics...It feels like we all want that kind of love, its just hard to find.

But more to the point, I actually kinda see what you mean as I reflect more. The epilogue kinda disapointed me a bit, I wish they would have done like 50 pages to go through the course of those 19 years, or even the rest of harry's likfe would have been better, than he could have died naturally the "master of death" like the third brother? it would have seemed FAR more appropriate.

No, I'm all for the 'thinking what happens on your own' ending. Honestly, it would've been cool, but it would have been completely OOC for him.

Neville kicked ass. I liked the part with kreacher. The battle scene with Voldemort and Harry felt rushed. I thought th epilogue was cool.

I don't know how the hell anyone can read that in one sitting... Ever since the 5th book I've been saying Harry would sacrifice himself in order to kill Voldemort. So there I was feeling so smart when he did, only to find out he actually survived. Also Dumbledore's explanation at the end was confusing as hell.

I've just finished it, I wasn't counting hours, took me a long ass time to do. I wasn't reading the entire time, and I didn't read more than a few pages yesterday.

There are some things I REALLY liked about the book. But...

Some things just felt out of place in some ways.

But in some ways, how things ended made it feel REALLY good... But there are definitely questions that she needs to answer. She DEFINITELY didn't wrap up everything. I figured the epilogue would've been her wrapping up everything and finishing it all, but there was so much left unsaid.

yeah, i finished it earlier today. not sure how long it took. 8 hours maybe?
anyway, i really rather missed having hogwarts as a setting. its much more interesting than the forest. but then again, we finally got to see some places that only had been talked about before (godrics hollow especially). i liked how lots of random things came together, like the whole house elf thing. did anyone notice that the whole concept of casting spells without talking was ignored in all except the sixth book? oh, and i was really surprised that the book took place in 1997 (according to the gravestones). did i miss some mention of the date before? and didnt dudley have a playstation in the third book (1993)? i thought it came out in 1995... lol

im glad she took the whole "harry is a horcrux" thing and twisted it to fool you by making him live.

oh, and i was kind of right with my (joke) theory of hermione getting pregnant! yay!

so, what are the chances of a new series about james potter (or one of those other kids) appearing? after all, harry touched his scar at the end...

I'm going to shoot her in the face if she ever does that... Plus, it wouldn't be very interesting to me.

However, she did talk about releasing an encyclopedia type thing with all of the info that she didn't use in the books.

And Kaiser definitely read a link in the thread we were looking at.

Ironically, I knew that the hog's head barman was Aberforth.

When I was rereading the books earlier this month, I noticed so many foreshadowings of Harry's death. Then he died and I was like "I was right!," then he came back to life and I was like "damn."

It was generally good except i felt there were some plot holes, especially in the epilogue which in my opinion sucked.

i actually really liked the book/epilogue, i just think that there should have been more to it. i mean, OOTP was what, like, 750 pages long? This one was only 600, i feel that JK could have added more to the actual story, and even more to the epilogue.
