In super mario for nintendo 64 how do you get the snowman's body to its head?

You have to slide down the mountain, just in front of it.

It's fucking difficult. And now I must take some cough syrup that tastes like zombie sweat. Goddamn zombies.

Somehow I did it, and it still don't make sense. Now how do I get the metal cap?

In the Hazy Maze Cave level, in the underground lake with the dinosaur, one of the doors you need to ride the lizard to reach leads to a room with another one of those oil pits (like the one you jumped in to get to the level). Jump in the pit, run to the end of the cave (if you fall in the river, get out ASAP or you'll fall down a waterfall outside the castle) and step on LARGE ARBITRARY GREEN BUTTON.

Once you've done that, you can also get a red coin star in the waterfall cave. If I remember right, four are on land, and four are underwater and require the metal cap.
