I just had one of the most desperate last stands...

In Dawn of War Dark Crusade.

I was playing as Imperial Guard (Defensive faction. Heavy emplacements, insanely powerful vehicles and millions of infantry.) and I set up 6 bolter turrets all facing the only narrow path into my base. (These turrets are the size of a two story house in game.). I set up two heavy weapon emplacements that can rip apart vehicles, had three artilerry pieces watching the path and also had mines on the path. I had the Baneblade (Badass tank.) watching it too. Basically everything funneled into a defense.

They came in tides. Ork after Ork after Ork tide. @_@ Me vs 7 ork factions. If you killed one fifty more would replace it. Needless to say the bolts never stopped firing from my turrets. The artyillery never stopped firing. My soldiers never let go of the trigger. It was a tide of orks. Even with my insane defenses we could not hold. They overran us like cockroaches, and destroyed my base.

The final tally: 4000 orks dead.

Btw, the bodies stay. You could not see the ground on that path or around my base.

if you upgrade the bolter turrets to rocket turrets, they knockdown infantry, so it gives you more time to kill them all.

but damn. i haven't had a battle were t my kills got over 1k in a long time.

orks are one of the races that have special shit that allow them to have a lot more people than everyone else. their infantry caps at 100 instead of 20.
