So, what happened was I went to DePaul to get my Bachelors degree. And she is afraid of big cities/crowds, so she never came to visit. We sort of grew apart, and I got a bit fed up of making *all* the effort to see her. Then, I moved back out to the suburbs and it's almost the same thing. A phone call every other day, but she doesn't have a car anymore, so I again had to make all the effort again, and she lived 40 minutes away (much less than 2 hours, but still a fair length) so I was driving out to see her, since she wouldn't take the train.
A slightly less contributing factor, was that she HATES Sci-Fi and Comic movies, which is pretty much my lifeblood (though I was willing to overlook this)...
I don't "regret" breaking up, but I wish it had turned out differently.
Oh, I was the one that instigated the break-up, and she was mostly caught by surprise. Her friend told me last night over facebook that she was very surprised and thought I would be proposing soon, to the point where she picked out the ring she wanted and showed her friend (I'm friends with her friend) so that she would direct me too it.
Anyway, it could have gone worse, and thanks for letting me post it out here. Like I said, it wasn't mess, but it helps to be able to "vent" out the reasoning to people who didn't know her and won't be taking "sides".
